Digi twins aid the security services
The website gcn.com reports on the April webinar organized by the Digital Twin Consortium. There, Intuitus Managing Director David Shaw presented the possibilities of engaging the advanced capabilities of digital twins in predictions important in emergency response.
Through simulations and predictive analytics, digital twins can provide responding units with a common operational picture with real-time information. This means that rescuers experience no gaps in communication, and can react immediately to a changing situation.
Currently, emergency response units use different communication systems and protocols. Digital twins offer a solution that integrates all event data and unifies access to them. Responding teams can thereby communicate in real time, and in the space that affects the situation.
“A digital twin allows you to create a virtual duplicate of a live production system, network environment, or cloud instance in real time,” said David Shaw.
The involvement of digital twins is described by D. Shaw at two fundamental levels: gathering input information for predictive analytics (this could be co-ordinated through AI or ChatGPT), ensuring cyber security, and identifying vulnerabilities (allowing you to test how changes could affect results without affecting actual assets and operations).
The article mentions, for example, the creation of a digital twin of the Texas coast. The task of this system is to increase the resistance of the area against floods. And, for example, the city of Aurora, Illinois, announced a tender to create a digital twin of part of its town centre. They will participate in ensuring public safety.
