[trends] Warehouses Full of Robots, in Amazon on a Daily Basis
Robotization is here. At least in Amazon. Robotization as part of Industry 4.0 is still waiting for implementation in many companies, while others are already beginning. In Amazon, they’ve been following this trend for quite a time. Currently, in the warehouses of Amazon, you’ll find more than 15 000 fully autonomous robots who might just be preparing your christmas gift.
In warehouses, there are so called Kiva robots – these are the small ones that carry packages back and forth and serve for moving packages around warehouses. Besides them, Amazon also uses robotic arms Robo stow that serve to handle heavy packages and together with a sophisticated optical system ensure that the goods are prepared within half an hour
Those who object that due to robotization, many people will lose their jobs, the proof of the contrary might be massive recruitment campaigns across the whole Europe, as Amazon still looks for human power for work which won’t be replaceable by robots for a long time ahead.
